Midcon MD10 Multi-Speed Control
The MIDCON MD10 inverter supports a Multi-Speed Control function, which allows the user to operate the drive at several fixed speeds according to the system requirements. This feature is commonly used in industrial applications where different operating speeds are required without the need for continuous manual adjustment.
The multi-speed function works by using Digital Input combinations to select preset frequency values. Each speed can be programmed using specific parameters in the drive.
Setting Multi-Speed Frequencies
To configure the fixed speeds, the following parameters are used to define the frequency value for each speed level:
• 01.17 – Multi Speed Frequency 1
• 01.18 – Multi Speed Frequency 2
• 01.19 – Multi Speed Frequency 3
• 01.20 – Multi Speed Frequency 4
• 01.21 – Multi Speed Frequency 5
• 01.22 – Multi Speed Frequency 6
• 01.23 – Multi Speed Frequency 7
These parameters allow the user to set up to seven different preset frequency values, depending on the required operating speeds.
Programming Digital Inputs
To enable the multi-speed selection, the Digital Inputs (DI1, DI2, DI3) must be programmed with the following parameter settings:
• 02.13 = 13 → Multi Speed Selection S1
• 02.14 = 14 → Multi Speed Selection S2
• 02.15 = 15 → Multi Speed Selection S3
These inputs are used in different ON/OFF combinations to select the desired speed level.
Speed Selection Table
Different combinations of S1, S2, and S3 signals determine which preset speed will be activated. By using the appropriate combination, the system can switch between the programmed frequency values.
Additionally, it is possible to operate an eighth speed directly from the device keypad when S1, S2, and S3 are all OFF. This allows manual operation without activating any digital input signals.
Application Advantages
Using the Multi-Speed Control feature in the MIDCON MD10 provides several benefits, including:
• Easy switching between different operating speeds.
• Better control in automated systems.
• Reduced need for manual adjustments.
• Improved efficiency in industrial processes such as pumps, fans, and conveyors.
This feature makes the MIDCON MD10 a flexible and reliable solution for applications that require multiple fixed speed operations within the same system.
